I had a few questions on Gimp Chat on that matter. In the past two months, I've covered Krita Animation for hand-drawn digital cel animation and StopGo for stop motion animation. 13:33 First I have to change the names of these layers before playing it. The package of GIMP animation is called GAP or GIMP animation package which can do a lot about Animations, Films and Movies but we'll cover that later. Have just picked up a Celestron CG5 mount and hope to have that soon and can attach the Hinode guider with its autoguide port. Now, I am not a big fan of Gimp as I find it unnecessarily complicated without using step-by-step instructions. The animation should be reasonably smooth, but we can make it better.
It's just, GAP doesn't work that good any more. To check if the timing is good, you can preview the animation using the Filters -> Animation -> Animation Playback. If you want to see the animation before you save everything, in the toolbar, hit Filters -> Animation -> Playback and watch it loop. It may not be a perfect render, but it should work. Once you've got it on your computer follow our instructions to make a fun and visually exciting gif: Processing / After Effects / For more advanced animation features, install the Gimp Animation Plugin (GAP) and read the tutorial. To see your animation from within Krita, click on the first frame (frame 0) and then Shift+Click on the final frame (frame 12). Regardless, if you find your GIMP Toolbox is missing, you can open it back up by going to Windows>Recently Closed Docks>Toolbox - Tool Options, Devices, Images (as shown in the image above). You can even drag the preview around your desktop.
go to filters->animation->playback this will launch a dialog box which has playback, rewind and step buttons on it. A new box will pop up, and you can play your animation. For a 30fps video, the correct value is 1/30=0.0333. A powerful onionskin management, and notions of clip/storyboard, but could be slow in complex cases and slow computers.
GIMP has the tool Animation Playback (found under Filters/Animation) to help with creating animations.When creating an animation, it is very useful to be able to manually "scrub" through the frames. Go to Filters → Animation → Playback to play the animation. Please note that the animation displayed in GIMP is not (necessarily) the animation you would get in a GIF since the file format doesn't support as many colours and the same transparency settings.
